Banff Centre's newest meeting facility, the Kinnear Centre includes 17 fully-equipped meeting rooms of varying sizes and flexibility. The building also houses the Maclab Bistro and the Paul D. Fleck Library & Archives. The Shaw Amphitheatre is adjacent to the Kinnear Centre, on the Bourgeau valley side.

The pavilion houses ten modern, fully-equipped meeting rooms and a reception area, ideal for groups of 30 - 50 people.

Designed to ensure the preservation of a stand of 350-year-old Douglas firs, the Professional Development Centre's three wings radiate from a natural courtyard, lounge and lobby area. The bold use of massive tree trunks as pillars and elements of structural design combine with floods of natural lighting to sustain the Centre's link with its environment. Four comfortable lounges with fireplaces provide guests with a variety of informal meeting area or reception options.

The Max Bell Building features a 330 tiered-seat auditorium engineered for acoustic excellence and equipped with a 15 foot screen, dimmer lighting, a sound system and projection booth. This building houses 14 meeting rooms of varying capacities, as well as a large central foyer which is ideal for conference registration, receptions or displays.

Comprehensive event services are featured in the theatre complex, with two theatres ideally suited for presentation ceremonies and lectures. Fully equipped and professionally staffed, both theatres include full production capabilities. Front-of-house staff, ticket printing, and box office staffing are available. The Eric Harvie Theatre seats 1,000.

The Margaret Greenham Theatre is a more intimate theatre space that accommodates 250 people. The Club, with 120 seats, is a cabaret space with a low stage, flexible seating, limited backstage space, and a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Adjacent to the Margaret Greenham Theatre, the Laszlo Funtek Teaching Wing includes 10 meeting rooms, a carpentry shop, costume shop, properties shop, and dance studios.

Guests may park in our 200-stall parkade located behind Lloyd Hall Hotel. Designated parking spots are available elsewhere onsite, however please observe the No Parking signs where found. Vehicles outside of designated areas will be towed. When registering at the reception desk, you may use the parking lot in front of the Professional Development Centre.

Local ROAM  buses provide service bewteen Banff Centre and downtown Banff. There are two stops on campus: Banff Centre Theatres (upper campus, located near Eric Harvey Theatre) and Banff Centre PDC (lower campus, located near The Professional Development Centre & Hotel).


At the Front Desk in the Professional Development Centre (PDC), you may find a computer, fax machine, black-and-white printer and photocopier for light volume jobs (10-pages or less), available 24-hours to serve you best.  Our on-site Ricoh Print Centre can accommodate larger or complex jobs.

Banff Centre provides free wireless access for individual browsing and email checking in several buildings on the property. To take advantage of this service, you must have wireless capability in your laptop that is preconfigured for DHCP. Dedicated high-speed service for large groups, using physical wiring, is also available. This must be prearranged with your Conferences Services Manager, who can provide you detailed information on computer requirements, locations and costs. Wireless service is also available for groups, depending upon size, and must be prearranged with your Conference Services Manager. Dial-up service is available in rooms. The Information Technologies & Services Helpdesk support hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but weekend and after-hours computer support for large groups can be prearranged with your Conferences Services Manager for a fee.

Our on-site Ricoh Print team offers a wide range of services including printing, laminating, binding, foam core mounting, document scanning and shredding, package shipment and recieving. Our Conference Service Managers will be happy to assist you with further details.

Email and fax services are available for registered guests at the front desk. Postage stamps can be purchased at the front desk and mail can be dropped off at on-site post boxes located directly in front of the Professional Development Centre. Full mail and courier services are available on-site through Ricoh Services; please ask the front desk for assistance. All bedrooms are equipped with a telephone answering system. Courtesy house telephones may be used to contact services, facilities and personnel of Banff Centre. Guests can obtain 24-hour emergency aid by dialing 7777.

Banff Centre offers dry cleaning and laundry service through drop-off and pick-up at the front office. Coin-operated laundry facilities, irons and ironing boards are also available at the Centre.

Banff Centre welcomes guests with disabilities. We recommend that you contact us in advance so that we can meet you upon your arrival to facilitate your understanding of the best routes and services available. Please contact Jim Olver, Director of Guest Services: E-mail jim_olver@banffcentre.ca or telephone 1-403-762-6123 and he will be pleased to assist you. There are paths, roadways or ramps that provide access to and throughout most buildings. However, the Centre, built on the side of a mountain, does present challenges to those with limited mobility. Wheelchair accessible Telus pay phones are located throughout the campus; these phones are equipped with amplification controls for the hearing-impaired. Bedrooms adapted for wheelchair access are available upon request; please request when booking your accommodations.

Our on-site Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation offers a wide range of recreational opportunities and fitness services for people of all abilities and interests including swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, drop-in classes including yoga, fitness room, and climbing wall.

Life at Banff Centre is informal; casual clothing is the norm. Come prepared to enjoy the many outdoor recreational opportunities available in Banff National Park, or indoors at the Centre's Sally Borden Recreation Facility. A variety of outdoor and recreational equipment is available on a rental basis through the Sally Borden Building or rental firms in downtown Banff.

Security is maintained throughout the Centre on a 24-hour basis. Police services in the town of Banff and Banff National Park are provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

There are several doctors and dentists in the town of Banff, and the hospital provides a 24-hour emergency service. If you are not an Alberta resident, ensure that your medical coverage is effective in Alberta. If you are not a resident of Canada, you may wish to investigate the various medical insurance policies available for travellers in Canada.

Technology

The Technical Services team provides a complete range of Audio Visual equipment and services 364 days of the year. Hours of operation are from 7 am until 10 pm weekdays and until 5 pm on weekends and statutory holidays, and are extended as necessary to meet the needs of our guests. Our services include supply and setup of Audio Visual equipment for our largest venue of 950 seats to the smallest classroom, pre-conference consultations and quotations, dedicated full time operations Technicians and on-call troubleshooting, audio and video recording of special events to tape or disc with reproduction and professional colour labelling.

We are also a full service photographic department with two full time professional photographers. Photo services include group photographs and special event photography for coverage of events such as award presentations. We have traditional and digital darkrooms to support all types of conference activities. Our 44" wide format archival inkjet printer is available for printing of posters and banners and our in-house lab can produce traditional prints as required up to 30" wide.
